Measures against rock avalanches

Personal measures
  • Avoidance of risk areas (often indicated by rockfall warning signs; known rockfall activity in the past) 
  • Avoid standing under cliffs for unnecessarily long periods of time: pass talus slopes quickly and attentively.

 

Technical/biological measures
  • Rock avalanches cannot be prevented using technical measures. 

 

Spatial-planning measures and protection of property
  • Areas at risk must be avoided, i.e. no development zones designated in such areas.
