The main focus of PLANAT’s first term of office was as follows:

Cooperating in prevention
Advising the Federal Council; analysing identified legal loopholes.

Supporting implementation
Clearing up needs of harmonised instructions, guidelines and recommendations.

Supporting research, pure research and education
Elaborating main focus topics and proposals for research plans. Supporting knowledge transfer of national and international research projects from theory to practice and vice versa.

Communication
Public relations work concerning risks and problems of natural dangers, regularly keeping departments updated on recent work.

Focal Point ISDR
Companying, coordinating and sponsoring Switzerland’s efforts for the international UN-Decade to reduce natural disasters.
